The scene could come out of a horror movie. In Inner Mongolia, a region of China, more than a hundred sheep have been circling for more than two weeks without ever stopping. The phenomenon, which started with just one sheep, quickly spread to the rest of the herd, although it did not affect the rest of the Chinese farm animals (34 herds in total).
The phenomenon is unique in the world and no one can explain it… It was enough for the video published on the networks to worry Internet users. Several hypotheses exist, in particular that of a generalized disease in the herd due to the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes which causes nervous symptoms like walking in a circle, but this is supposed to lead to the death of the animal within 2 to 4 days after the appearance of the first symptoms. More than two weeks later, these sheep are alive and well and, according to the Chinese state daily People’s Daily, in good health. Mystery, mystery…
The great sheep mystery! Hundreds of sheep walk in a circle for over 10 days in N China’s Inner Mongolia. The sheep are healthy and the reason for the weird behavior is still a mystery. pic.twitter.com/8Jg7yOPmGK
