It is a measure that has gone a little unnoticed. But from January 1, 2023, we can say goodbye to receipts paper. But concretely, what does that mean? Well that’s what we will see right away. Don’t worry, Objeko’s editorial staff will tell you everything about it. Are you ready ?
Soon the end of the receipt
Sometimes the receipt can be useful. Indeed, it serves in particular as proof, when an error is found. It may also be requested by the store as proof of your purchase. Yet, despite all these advantages, it will soon disappear. As the Public Service website explains very well, on January 1, 2023, the automatic printing of the receipt will end in France. A change that is made in the context of the fight against waste.
Whereas 30 billion tickets are printed each year, some will no longer be automatically. Here is the exact list:
- Cash receipts “produced in sales areas and in establishments open to the public”
- Tickets issued by machines
- Bank card receipts
- Vouchers and promotional or reduction tickets
Those to which you will always be entitled
Some cases are still exempt from this new regulation. Especially when purchasing so-called durable goods. We think of household appliances, computer equipment, or even telephone equipment. Payment errors are also excluded. In fact, tickets relating to canceled operations or was subject of a loan, will be systematically printed. If you no longer have a receipt, where will the proof of purchase be?
Well, it will be a dematerialized bank receipt. So you can get them by:
- A message in your banking application
- A QR code to retrieve it from a web page
A problem with the dematerialized receipt?
While these solutions are ingenious, they raise many questions. In particular with regard to your personal data. Obviously, a merchant will have to ask for your consent to obtain your email address or phone number. But he’s bound to get it if you want to keep track of your purchase.
By obtaining your email address, a brand can then follow your habits to send you targeted advertisements. And you what do you think ? do not hesitate tell us in the comments. As usual, we read everything. Up to you.
