HBO series like “The Last of Us”, “Game of Thrones”, “The Wire” will return to France via Amazon

That the fans of the video game series The Last of Us are reassured: its television adaptation will be easily accessible in France at the same time as the rest of the world. The episodes will be broadcast on the Prime Video platform as soon as the series launches worldwide, on January 16 in France – the day after their broadcast in the United States – at no additional cost to subscribers.

The announcement is a taste of HBO’s return to France. Since 1er January, date ofexpiration of his contract with OCS, the pay package of telecom operator Orange (which Canal+ is in the process of acquiring), the content of this American channel had disappeared from French screens. And among them the series Game Of Thrones, TheWire Where The Sopranos.

New subscription at unknown price

The productions of HBO and all the channels of the American group Warner Bros Discovery will be distributed, from March, via a special subscription on the Amazon platform, Prime Video, the two groups announced on Thursday January 12. The Warner Pass, the price of which has not been communicated, will give access not only to HBO, but also to twelve channels of the Warner Bros Discovery group, including Warner TV, Eurosport, Discovery Channel, Cartoon Network or CNN.

The group announced on Tuesday that its Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Boing, Warner TV, Toonami, TCM Cinéma and CNN channels were ceasing to be broadcast via Canal+ offers, “lack of agreement between the two groups”.

As far as HBO is concerned, this pass will allow you to see the new seasons of several series expected this year (including Succession) and creations (The Idol, White House Plumbers, True Detective: Night Country).
