A year after the ski accident that claimed the life of the famous French actor Gaspard Ulliel, the public prosecutor of Albertville, Anne Gache, announced to RTL that the file had been officially “classified without follow-up”.
Recall that he had been the victim of a collision with a Lithuanian skier. Of last, cleared of all responsibilities, will therefore not be the subject of any prosecution.
In January 2022, the public prosecutor of Albertville had delivered the first results of the investigation for “research of the causes of death” entrusted to the investigators of the CRS Alpes d’Albertville.
“In view of the first elements, it was not noted excessive speed, inappropriate behavior or fault of one of the two skiers,” she said at the time.
The other skier involved, of Lithuanian origin, was equipped with a helmet at the time of the collision. The victim was not. “If Monsieur Ulliel had worn a helmet, would that have saved his life? I absolutely cannot affirm it, ”declared to the Dauphiné Libéré the public prosecutor Anne Gaches.
“The skier involved in the collision was heard, as well as two witnesses to the scene, she explained. According to these first testimonies and the observations made on the spot, the two skiers were moving side by side and collided.
It was at the crossroads of two blue slopes, in a not very dangerous sector of the La Rosière ski area, that the collision occurred on Tuesday January 18, 2022 around 4 p.m., “while Gaspard Ulliel had just forked to the left, probably to to join his friends who were on the track “Gelinotte” had specified the public prosecutor of Albertville in a press release.
When help arrived, the actor was motionless, unconscious in the snow. After more than an hour of intervention on the track, with the first aid provided by members of the mountain unit of the national police CRS Alpes, the actor had been transported by helicopter to the Grenoble University Hospital.
He was pronounced dead the day after the accident, in the afternoon.
Very shocked, the Lithuanian skier, who had not been injured in the accident, had also been taken care of psychologically.
