Yusuf Shah, an 11-year-old boy from Leeds (England), recently scored 162 on a daily intellectual (IQ) test. With this result, thechild stands in front of two of the greatest geniuses of the 20th century, the American physicist Albert Einstein and the British astrophysicist stephen hawking who had an IQ of 160. This is also the highest possible score for someone under the age of 18, explains The Independent.
It was the young Briton’s classmates who encouraged him to take an IQ test. “Everyone at school thinks I’m very clever and I always wanted to know if I was one of the 2% of people who have this result when they take the test,” he explained to our British colleagues from Subway.
To Oxford or Cambridge?
Even though he is only 11 years old, Yusuf Shah already has a clear idea about his future career. This Sudoku and Rubik’s Cube enthusiast wants to study the math at Cambridge or Oxford, the two most prestigious universities in the country. In the meantime, the boy has already been invited to join Mensa, the organization bringing together people with very high IQs.
For his family, this extraordinary result is a source of pride. However, her mother wishes to avoid overconfidence. “I always tell him: ‘Your father is always smarter than you. Even if you have talent, you have to work hard, you have to work,'” she explained. His little brother, Khalid, 8, could also take the test soon.
